Here’s an easy way to break down a head of cauliflower into bite-sized pieces.
- First, cut the head of cauliflower in half and then into quarters through the core.
- Now you can see how all the florets are attached to the central core by their own little stems. Remove the core by running your knife between the florets and the stem.
- Once the central core is removed, the cauliflower will naturally fall apart into large florets. And that's all there is to it!
- If the florets are too big to your liking, you can cut them down with a paring knife or just pull them apart with your fingers.
Note: The stems are completely edible, just more fibrous than the florets. If you want to cook them, start by steaming or roasting them first, before you add the florets to your dish.
