- Cutting: Start by cutting off about a 1/2 inch of the top (crown) of the pomegranate. Then score the outer skin about 1/4 inch deep into 4 quarters.
- Deseeding: While holding the pomegranate above a bowl, pull the fruit apart. The pomegranate should divide where you made the cuts in the skin. Option 1: With a spoon, hit the back of pomegranate until seeds fall out. Option 2: Gently push out the seeds with your fingers carefully.
- Removing the membrane pieces: Cover the bowl with water. The pomegranate seeds will sink to the bottom and any membrane will float to the top of the water. Skim off the membrane with your fingers. Drain the water. The seeds are now ready for use. Serve in a beautiful bowl and enjoy!
